Immediately Up Your Game In 3 Simple Steps

We all think about living a happier, healthier and more inspired life, but let’s face it; daily life can get in the way and making grand statements like “I want to be happier” seem somewhat overwhelming. Since we all know that breaking goals down and taking daily steps is the best way to achieve them, we’re offering up weekly motivations to support your goals in all areas of your life. This week, we are presenting a few ways to boost your skill set as well as your network. Here are three ways to go for the goal.

1 | Identify your “weak points” and seek training.

A weak link can destroy the strongest chain. It is with this in mind that we encourage you to take time and think about where you are right now and where you want to go. What skills do you need to have in place in order to successfully take these next steps? Whether it’s a specific technical skill, a need for a bigger network or better organizational skills, it’s time for an honest and nonjudgmental assessment. Once you have written down your areas of growth, put a training plan in action.

2 | Have a solid understanding of how your self-perception might be harming you.

So much of what we do and do not achieve in life is based on our self-identity. Do you allow your ego to prevent you from working to better yourself by soothing you into delusion? Or do you tell yourself that you cannot achieve your goals or do not deserve to achieve them? I encourage you to pay close attention to your inner self-talk and identify ways in which you are talking yourself out of your success.

3 | Connect with at least three people.

We live in a very connected world and the best way to get ahead is to get involved! Think of networking as less than “what can you do for me?” and more about “how can we collaborate?” Once you have identified a few people you’d like to get to know better, reach out and invite them to coffee or a cocktail to share ideas. You may or may not make a new professional connection, but you might make a new friend or at least gain some new insight.
