When her mother stepped in and told her to stop partying so hard because every day couldn’t be a good time, Kate Moss famously shot back, “Why the fuck can’t I have fun all of the time?”
The 90’s It Girl, Moss has led an openly raucous life, flaunting her love of parties, cocaine and bad boy boyfriends, all of which make her bold, authentic and interesting but an unlikely wellness leader. And according to the website of COSMOSS, her new wellness brand , that’s the whole point. Focusing on transformation instead of virtue and perfection, COSMOSS is ‘Soulful, sensual, self-aware’ and ‘draws on the extraordinary life experience of Kate Moss — someone whose career and image has touched on and influenced so many others and yet has taken her own, rich journey of transformation gradually and privately.’ The brand goes on to say that it is a ‘celebration of every day exactly as it is, with all its imperfections. Each product has been meticulously crafted with wellbeing in mind, using potent, natural substances. Each ritual opens a door to balance, restoration, and love; each fragrance and infusion recenters and completes.’
The CBD-based line is presented in Moss-meets-moonchild packaging and includes a number of products that are packaged to focus on morning, afternoon and evening ‘rituals. From Pro-Collagen Oil, Face Cream and Face Cleanser to fragrance, and of course, teas (she is British after all). The standout here is her use of bakuchiol, an all-natural plant alternative to retinol getting loads of good press for it’s benefits to those with sensitive skin.
While we can’t wait to try the products, what we really love is the idea that self-care doesn’t have to achieve goop-level perfection to be taken seriously. We will take a former party girl who endorses Diet Coke, loves yoga, wears leopard print and rebels against perfection over the athleisure and açai bowl template any day.
